What Is Purple Haze Feminised?Purple Haze Feminised brings a legendary 1960s sativa to a full photoperiod grow. Most sources trace it to a Purple Thai and Haze cross, often credited to the Haze Brothers and breeder Sam the Skunkman. This feminised version grows on a standard light cycle, flowering once switched to 12/12. The strain famously shares its name with the 1967 Jimi Hendrix song.
Several seed banks now sell their own feminised version under this name, though they don’t all describe the same genetics. One source instead describes an Afghan and Haze cross. Treat that as a distinct account rather than the same lineage as the more common Purple Thai and Haze story.
What makes this version stand out is how faithfully it carries forward that classic berry-and-haze character. It also carries forward a genuinely uplifting, cerebral high. As a result, it remains a popular choice for growers after an energising daytime sativa with real old-school pedigree.
Origins & Genetics of Purple HazePurple Haze Feminised most commonly traces back to a Purple Thai and Haze cross. Breeding is often credited to the Haze Brothers and Sam the Skunkman, though not every seller repeats that attribution. One source instead describes an Afghan and Haze cross. That reads as a genuinely different genetic story rather than a variation on the same lineage.
Most sources describe a sativa-leaning phenotype, generally putting the split somewhere between 60% and 80% sativa. THC generally lands between 14% and 20%, with most reports clustering around 18% to 20%.
This cross has earned a lasting cultural reputation well beyond cannabis circles, thanks to its famous namesake song. So its core identity stays fairly consistent across sellers, even where the exact genetics and potency figures vary more than usual by source.
Purple Haze Effects, Aroma & FlavourUsers commonly describe an uplifting, cerebral high with a genuine burst of creativity and sociable energy. A mild, relaxing undercurrent runs beneath that energy without tipping into sedation. That combination makes it a genuine option for creative work, social sessions or daytime use.
Meanwhile, most reports describe a sweet, berry and grape-forward aroma, with earthy and spicy undertones. One differently-bred version instead leans forest, wood and musk, without any berry sweetness at all.
Our guide to maximising terpenes is a useful companion read if you want to preserve that berry-forward character through curing.
Growing Purple Haze SeedsThis strain rates as moderate across most sources, and its tall, rangy growth habit rewards a little patience. Since it’s a full photoperiod plant, it needs a switch to a 12/12 light cycle indoors to begin flowering.
Indoors, its long internodal spacing benefits from early training to manage height and light penetration. Our guide to growing cannabis indoors in Australia covers the setup basics if you’re planning an indoor run.
Outdoors, this strain handles a range of climates comfortably, though it appreciates a longer, warmer season to finish well. Our Australian cannabis grow calendar is a useful companion read for timing an outdoor planting correctly.
Purple Haze Flowering Time & YieldPurple Haze Feminised typically finishes flowering in 7 to 10 weeks from 12/12, with most reports landing around 8 to 9 weeks. Indoors, expect yields of around 350 to 600 g/m² under good conditions.
Outdoors, a healthy plant typically produces somewhere between 350 and 700g, given reasonable light, space and a full season. One seller’s own page also gives an outdoor figure that conflicts with itself, mixing a per-plant weight with a per-area measurement. Treat that particular figure as a labelling error rather than a genuine data point.
This strain finishes on a fairly standard photoperiod timeline. As a result, it also suits growers happy to commit to one well-timed outdoor season. Our guide to spotting quality weed is a useful companion read once harvest day arrives.
Who Purple Haze Seeds Suit BestThis strain suits growers chasing a genuinely legendary, berry-forward sativa with a clear, creative high. It also suits users after an uplifting daytime effect rather than heavy sedation. Specifically, growers with a little more experience will appreciate managing its tall, rangy structure.
On the other hand, it’s a less natural fit for complete beginners after a compact, low-maintenance plant, or anyone after a fast, self-flowering timeline. If you’d prefer a faster, self-flowering timeline instead, with no light-cycle switch to manage, Purple Haze Autoflower is worth a look. For anyone after a full-season grow with genuine, legendary Purple Haze character, though, Purple Haze Feminised is hard to beat.

Great product. Way to expencive!
Will update currently germinating
This is my third year buying from Mediseed Man. Great germination first year. Second year was a bit hit and miss, but Mediseed Man compensated for failed seeds. I live in a colder climate but average about 2 pounds 5 plants and about 1 ounce per Autoflower….enough for me….pics of last years crop 1.7 pounds + edibles and skin cream
